Situated on the western spur of the hill in Bergamo Alta, Palazzo Terzi dominates the little piazza of the same name, closed by the imposing building of the Liceo Classico. The original building, dating back to the sixteenth century, has been extended and altered in tone with the style, thanks to the resolutive intervention of the architect Filippo Alessandri who redesigned the façade and adjoining spaces in the eighteenth century.
Since no further interventions have taken place over the last centuries which could distort the taste of the era, Palazzo Terzi presents itself as a residence where the centuries have not passed by. The visitor is received in the Reception hall dominated by a stately fireplace... the curious layout of the seventeenth century fresco paintings by Barbelli, the works of Storer and the sobriety of the furniture complete the spell. The same artists, together with Tencalla and G. B. Tiepolo, were also given the task by the Terzi family of decorating other areas of their residence, among which were the dining room, the little mirrored sitting-room, the red room and the “soprarizzo” room.
